About Jason Landau, Owner/Designer
Influenced by an artistic family and captivated by the art of design from an early age, Jason Landau focused on the design field and earned a Master’s Degree in Architecture from Tulane University in 1986. Having successfully passed the N.C.I.D.Q. exam for interior design in 1989, Jason became a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and served as the Connecticut chapter President from 2010-2011.
Over the past twenty years, Jason has won numerous awards and professional recognitions from leading cabinet manufacturers, the National Kitchen & Bath Association, and most recently, Qualified Remodeler Magazine. Additionally, his unique and captivating kitchen designs have been published in New Canaan, Darien, and Rowayton Magazine, Women’s Day, Kitchen and Bath Design News, House Magazine, In-Town magazine and Kitchens by Professional Designers.
Although Jason takes great pride in these accomplishments, awards and publications alone don’t capture his passion and enthusiasm for great design and superior client satisfaction. While many professionals configure designs within existing spaces, Jason artfully manipulates spaces to create superior designs. He brings clients’ dreams to life in ways they never thought possible. He is able to achieve this by truly listening to their needs and approaches each project without any stylistic prejudice. His projects range from the traditional to the contemporary with function and efficiency always in mind!
Awards, accomplishments and magazine features
- Jason has won numerous awards from leading industry manufacturers, the National Kitchen & Bath Association, and several local and national magazines.
- Jason is the past president of the Connecticut chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).
- The beautifully-renovated spaces of some of his clients have been featured in New Canaan, Darien and Rowayton magazines, Women’s Day, Kitchen and Bath Design News, House magazine, In-Town magazine and Kitchens by Professional Designers, Westchester Home Magazine, The Journal News and many others.
While Jason takes great pride in these accomplishments, he credits his success to a few simple tenets that are ingrained in his business philosophy:
- He really listens to his clients’ needs and desires and approaches each project without any stylistic prejudice.
“Jason truly listens and then acts on what he hears the client saying. He is creative. He is grounded. He is exceptional in his ability to be focused on delivering what the client is really asking for.” — Kristine
- He looks at a client’s home with an eye toward manipulating the space to create a beautiful, functional and efficient design, rather than manipulating the design to fit the space.
“Tom & I were getting frustrated with our renovation project until our builder recommended we contact Jason. It was the best decision we made. He went above and beyond the kitchen design to greatly improve the function and flow of a large portion of the first floor. We were amazed that he could look at the space and quickly make a master plan that made sense.” — Tom & Lynn
These simple rules, along with a true passion for great design and client satisfaction, have made Amazing Spaces the respected and influential design company it is today. From traditional to contemporary designs, Amazing Spaces will create the kitchen of your dreams.
About Karol, Computer Draftsperson
Karol joined Amazing Spaces in 2008. She works on the company’s Planit software to generate a project’s technical documents, such as plans and elevations, existing conditions plans, lighting plans and cabinet detail drawings. All documents are updated as the design choices change, ensuring the cabinetry design conforms to site, appliance and hardware specifications. The finished documents include any information and notes the installer may need for a smooth installation. 3-D visualizations can be created so that Amazing Spaces clients can get an idea of what their new space will feel like. Karol also coordinates with the cabinet companies during the cabinet order phase to make sure the finished products meet all design specifications. She earned her certification in Computer Aided Design at Westchester Community College.
Michele LaFon, Design Assistant
Michele is an artist and seamstress whose love for fabric led to a career in fashion, designing textiles
and clothing for children. Living in San Francisco inspired an interest in architecture and
she went back to school for a post-graduate certificate in Interior Design/Interior Architecture from
UC Berkeley Extension. Michele loves all things design from drafting to furniture selection. She is inspired by
designers who aren’t afraid to break the rules and is drawn to spaces that have a little tension:
conflicting scale, mismatched pattern, a little chaos.
Michele’s husband’s animation career recently brought them to New York, where she currently
lives with her husband, Matt and their Morkie, GIR.
